"Hi! I’m Sister Cynthia Ann Drozd, better known as Sister
Cindy.
The School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King had a huge
influence on my life during my elementary school years on the east
side of Chicago. I always enjoyed having fun with the Sisters and
helping when needed. These memories are a treasure.
Upon graduating from high school I entered this Franciscan community.
After the necessary preparation for ministry, I was assigned as
teacher in various elementary schools and later principal at St.
Stephen School on Chicago. During the course of time I earned my
Bachelor of Arts and a Masters Degree in Administration from DePaul
University.
Prior to joining Alvernia Manor I had often volunteered services
at their holiday’s festivities, picnics and bazaars. It was
always a pleasure and fun being with the residents. When asked to
be part of the staff, I accepted and have truly enjoyed being here.
There are days when it’s a fun time for all. The residents
and I enjoy exercises, school days, sing-a-longs and dancing. Special
bus trips to view Buckingham Fountain or lights & sights during
the Christmas seasons are other special activities enjoyed.
Alvernia Manor, to me, is a very 'special place'. There are many
reasons but I find it particularly rewarding to bring a smile and
happiness to our residents."
